BIO
Joshua Collins believes in endless possibilities for his personal training clients – because he knows from experience what it takes to make meaningful change.
From Recovery to Entrepreneurship
An aspiring professional athlete from childhood, Joshua was sidelined during college by serious injuries that changed the trajectory of his career. His own recovery taught him the power of physical therapy and personal training, and he graduated in 2012 from Iowa Wesleyan College with a B.S. in Exercise Science and Wellness. In 2020, he achieved his dream of launching Chicago Grit Fitness, located on the Northwest Side in a garage he transformed into a fully featured professional gym.
Experience Shapes Philosophy
Before opening his practice, Joshua worked with React Physical Therapy in Chicago, where he was the creator and head strength coach for their BeFit program. He helped clients aged 5 to 78 (including athletes from the NBA, NFL, and MLB) recover from injury, increase strength, improve mobility, and boost confidence.

Pursuit of Excellence…and Happiness
Joshua continually pursues professional development opportunities. He is currently finishing his EXOS Sports Performance Certification so he can offer speed training services to professional athletes. He is a USA Weightlifting Coach as well as a Fascial Stretch Therapist. And his Stick Mobility certification makes him uniquely qualified to help clients improve flexibility, strength, and coordination.
While Joshua is passionate enough about Chicago Grit Fitness to call it both work and hobby, he also relishes his roles as husband and father.
